My Writer's Block Turns To Writing Buddy Discussion

in Journal and Thoughts

Well, I seem to have hit what many call a writer’s block.  I have not written anything (except for this blog) for about two weeks now.  Yes, I did edit a couple chapters in Possess Me Please, but I don’t count that even though my writing buddy insists it is progress.  I do know though and God bless her, she is the greatest motivation I have.  She’s always there for me when I’m down, encouraging me, trying to convince me things aren’t so bad and she even sticks around when I get bitchy.  Not too many people do that so I know I can consider her a true friend.

Anyway, now that I’m talking about it.  How many of you have a writing buddy?  I will tell you, when I first started writing I was a complete, lost idiot.  I finally did acquire a writing buddy and we seemed to work well together then one day, he was gone, never heard from him again.  It was very depressing for me as I felt a huge part of my support had been yanked from me.  What did I do?  I was hesitant to try for another writing buddy as it was honestly devestating.  I didn’t even want to write at that point.  But, I pulled through and finally decided to respond to an email in my account that had been there about a week or so that I actually almost deleted since I had acquired a writing buddy (you know the loser that left me high and dry : ) ).  Lucky for me, I had not deleted it and bunked up enough courage to try once again.  The email was from Tatiana Caldwell (visit her site listed under links–she is a great writer).

I contacted her and we agreed to no promises and set up a schedule to meet online weekly to see if we would be compatible.  I don’t think either one of us has looked back since.  She is a great motivator, a great friend and a great inspiration.  Yes, even when I’m bitchy.  And you know what, she doesn’t fault me for being so.  That’s a true friend.

So my point?  If you don’t have one and you are a beginning writer or even a writer with a little experience under the belt, get a writing buddy.  It will be worth it.

I think no writer should be without at least one writing buddy who they can freely talk to about any and everything.

You have no idea how glad I am that you did not delete that email, Miss Yule.

I almost never even sent it.

Anyways – we are obviously fated to become friends. Thank goodness, because you were exactly what I needed when I was most needful.

Luv ya to death, hon.
